Mr. Sony’s career spans multiple roles, including research, consultancy, and leadership positions, which have allowed him to develop a deep understanding of social, economic, and environmental issues. He currently resides in Hungary, where he is pursuing a Doctorate in Legal Studies at the University of Debrecen, specializing in the regulation of labor markets in the face of global changes. With an impressive academic track record, Mr. Sony has gained his Bachelor and a Master program in Sociology of the Khulna University. His research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including Society 5.0, AI, gender equality, community development and the socio-economic impacts of climate change, all of which have been integral to his leadership at ChangeMaker Nexus.

Moreover, Mr. Sony’s research experience is extensive and varied, ranging from qualitative studies to complex quantitative analyses. He has worked on projects funded by institutions such as the Khulna University Research Cell (KURC) and the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), contributing significantly to studies on topics like livelihood changes due to the Rohingya influx and the role of religion in disaster management. His research output includes numerous peer-reviewed publications in journals indexed by Scopus, as well as conference papers presented at international events across Europe, Asia, and Australia. Notable among his publications are articles in Sustainability and the International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction—both of which reflect his expertise in society 5.0, social change, policy analysis, gender studies, and disaster risk reduction.

As Managing Director of ChangeMaker Nexus, Mr. Sony leads the organization in its mission to provide cutting-edge solutions that address complex societal issues. He is responsible for the company’s overall strategic direction, day-to-day operations, and public representation. Under his leadership, the company has expanded its influence, forming strategic partnerships and collaborating with global research networks. His focus on delivering measurable impact has guided the organization’s successful ventures, particularly in the realms of community development, environmental sustainability, and corporate social responsibility.

Mr. Sony’s leadership goes beyond his professional role; he was also an active ambassador for cross-cultural engagement. He served as the DOSZ Ambassador of Bangladesh for the Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Candidates (DOSZ), where he fostered scientific collaboration between Bangladesh and Hungary. This role allowed him to engage with government stakeholders, multinational groups, and international delegates to promote research exchange and cooperation.

Mr. Sony’s involvement in youth empowerment is also noteworthy. He has participated in and organized multiple Erasmus+ Youth Exchange projects, focusing on themes such as combating hate speech, addressing climate change, and fostering youth activism. These programs reflect his commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and activists who are equipped to make a positive difference in their communities.

His international experience is further enriched by his travels to more than 19 countries and interactions with people from 73+ nations. This global perspective has not only broadened his worldview but also enhanced his ability to communicate and collaborate across cultural and linguistic boundaries. Mr. Sony is fluent in Bengali, English, and Hindi, and has conversational proficiency in French, enabling him to engage with diverse populations in a variety of contexts.

In addition to his leadership and academic achievements, Mr. Sony has contributed to numerous national and international conferences, where he has shared insights on labor rights, gender inclusion, and disaster response strategies. He has received accolades for his presentations, including the ‘Season Best Presenter Award’ at the 27th Spring Wind Conference in Hungary. His active participation in conferences and seminars, such as the International Sociological Congress in Australia and the 5th International Conference on Social Science in Sri Lanka, underscores his role as a thought leader in the fields of sociology and social change.

Mr. Sony has also held several leadership roles in various volunteer organizations. As the Director of the Board for the National Debate Federation Bangladesh (NDF BD) and Vice-President of the Khulna University Debating Club, he has been instrumental in shaping strategies, organizing events, and mentoring youth leaders. His ability to lead and inspire others has been key to his success in both academic and professional spheres.
